Students Voices from Gaza

The story of students in Gaza in the past two years is a story of extraordinary resilience, courage and fortitude. In spite of their university buildings being reduced to rubble, of their professors and fellow students being killed; in spite of relentless bombings, of multiple displacements; in spite of the lack of equipment and poor internet connections; in spite of hunger, illness and death… Students in Gaza have continued studying, taking exams, passing their degrees, enrolling in new courses. The continuity of education in Gaza in the face of what is now widely accepted to be a scholasticide testifies to the incredible strength of Gazan universities, professors and students alike. Education is not a luxury: it is essential to human dignity, and, in the Gazan context, it is undoubtedly a form of resistance.
We here open a space for students in Gaza to offer their own testimony about their experience.

رسالة لطلابنا من "Academic Solidarity with Palestine (ASwP) ":
قصة طلاب غزة خلال العامين الماضيين هي قصة صمود وشجاعة وقوة استثنائية. فعلى الرغم من انهيار مباني جامعاتهم وتحولها إلى ركام، واستشهاد أساتذتهم وزملائهم، ورغم القصف المستمر والتهجير المتكرر، ونقص المعدات وضعف خدمات الإنترنت، ورغم الجوع والمرض والموت… استمر طلاب غزة في الدراسة، وأدوا امتحاناتهم، ونجحوا في شهاداتهم، وسجلوا في مساقات جديدة.
إن استمرار التعليم في غزة، رغم كل ما جرى، وما يُعتبر اليوم إبادة تعليمية (Scholasticide)، يُعد دليلًا على القوة الاستثنائية التي تتميز بها جامعات غزة وأساتذتها وطلابها. فالتعليم ليس رفاهية، بل هو جزء أساسي من كرامة الإنسان، وفي حالة غزة، يشكل بلا شك شكلًا من أشكال المقاومة.
نحن هنا نفتح مساحة لطلاب غزة ليشاركوا شهاداتهم وتجاربهم بأنفسهم. كل الآراء التي تُنشر في هذه المنشورات تعبّر عن أصحابها، ولا تعكس بالضرورة موقف المنظمة.
