The Arrell Scholarships provide generous financial support to ensure students can fully focus on their academic and research goals:

• $50,000 per year

• Paid in three equal installments per year

• Possibility of a one-semester extension (subject to approval)

This funding covers tuition and contributes significantly to living expenses, making it one of the most competitive graduate scholarships in Canada.

Eligibility:

To qualify for the Arrell Scholarships, applicants must:

• Apply to a Master’s program at the University of Guelph for Fall 2026

• Have a minimum first-class (A-) academic average

• Align their research with the mission of the Arrell Food Institute, which includes:

  • Producing healthier and more nutritious food

  • Supporting economic growth

  • Reducing environmental and social impacts of food systems

Applicants may request to defer the scholarship under exceptional circumstances, subject to approval.
