Funding:
- Stipend: €3,000 per month for postdocs; €3,600 per month for experienced researchers (completed PhD within last 12 years).
- Additional Benefits: Travel expenses, medical/liability insurance subsidies, family allowances, and mobility allowance (€100/month).
- Duration: 6–24 months for postdocs; 6–18 months for experienced researchers.
Eligibility:
- Academic Standing: Candidates must hold a doctorate or equivalent academic qualification.
- Career Stage:
- Postdoctoral Researchers: Completed PhD/doctorate within the last 4 years.
- Experienced Researchers: Completed PhD/doctorate within the last 12 years and a comprehensive list of peer-reviewed publications.
- Mobility Requirement: Must not have lived or worked in Germany for more than 6 months at the time of application and must have lived outside Germany for at least 12 months in the 18-month period prior to application.
- Host Agreement: A confirmed research proposal and mentoring agreement from a host institution in Germany is required.
- Language Skills: For humanities/social sciences, good knowledge of German is required if necessary for the project; otherwise, English is sufficient. For natural sciences/engineering, good proficiency in German or English is required.

Corresponding to the three selection rounds per year, there will be three calls for applications annually, each opening approximately eight months before the respective selection meeting. Once a call has reached the maximum number of currently 800 applications, the application round will be closed. Applicants who have already started their application at that time will be able to save and continue working on it but will not be able to submit until the next call opens.
