Cédric Villani is a renowned French mathematician known for his work in partial differential equations, Riemannian geometry, and mathematical physics. He received the Fields Medal in 2010 and has also been awarded the Henri Poincaré Prize, Fermat Prize, and the European Mathematical Society Prize. He served as director of the Institut Henri Poincaré (2009-2017), and has been a professor at ENS Lyon since 2000 and at the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques since 2022. Beyond academia, he entered politics, becoming a member of the French National Assembly in 2017 and is currently affiliated with the Green Party.
